Another weekend and another fantastic performance by the Silver Tide swimmers. Nadine was on fire with club records in the 200, 800 and 1500 free. Her 1500 was the fastest one ever done by a Silver Tide girl and in doing that she also achieved her first ever Senior National time by 10 seconds. For these efforts she was named one of 3 swimmers of the meet. Also setting a new club record was Karlyn with a fantastic 200 IM where she took control right from the start and did not look back. The 15 and over girls relay team of Rachelle, Julie, Sydney and Karlyn also broke the club record in the 200 FR and were well on there way in the MR as well if not for a little mix up. Other fantastic efforts from the weekend came from butterflier? Erin who decided she was more than a butterflier and achieved her first ever Western cuts in the 400 IM by taking off 20 seconds and her 800 free by taking off well over 30 seconds. These great efforts earned her swimmer of the meet as well. Our 3rd swimmer of the meet was Brendan Elford who achieved his first 13 year old A time in 200 fly and had a number of other great events on his way to a 100% best time weekend. It truly was a magical weekend. Sydney earned new Western times in the 200 and 400 IM. Julie, after signing off on backstroke decided that it ain't so bad with another big best time. Rachelle had a breakthrough in her 100 and 200 free getting her first best times in those events since this time last year. Sarah had a fantastic meet all around and breast stroke is finally her slowest stroke (time wise). Greg is finding new events and is seeing great success. Nicole continued to grow into a very well rounded swimmer with a great 400 IM and Free. And Brayden continued to inch closer and closer to his A time in a number of different freestyle events. Lots of best and great swims by everyone involved. Keep up the great work everyone.
The Magic of Saanich Commonwealth Place was a great thing to experience and many swimmers get to do it all over again in February.
