Check out the Ryan Cochran video on the Swimming Canada home page, www.swimming.ca under headline news. If it is not there you can find it under the title more news. He did not look up to National team members when he was growing up, nor did he look up to the likes of the world record holder in his event Grant Hackett, he just thought, What do I have to do to beat them at the trials in the future to make an international team and then what do I have to do to beat the best once I am there.
Some may call this cocky, I call it confident and necessary if you truly want to be the best.
